YOUTH & FAMILY SUPPORT AT MIDTOWN THERAPY GROUP
Whether your youth is navigating intense emotions, frequent conflict, impulsive behaviours, or difficulty coping with daily stress, we meet you where you are by helping youth and families better understand what is happening, strengthen skills, and improve day-to-day functioning.
WHAT WE TREAT
Emotion Dysregulation & Mood Difficulties
Adolescents may experience intense emotions that feel difficult to manage, sometimes leading to reactivity, withdrawal, or conflict. These patterns can affect relationships, school, and daily life. We support adolescents in understanding their emotions, building stability, and developing more effective ways to respond.
Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety and depression in adolescents may show up as worry, avoidance, low mood, irritability, withdrawal, or feeling overwhelmed by daily demands. These experiences can affect school, relationships, motivation, confidence, and daily routines. We support adolescents in understanding what they are experiencing, building coping strategies, and developing healthier ways of managing.
ADHD & Executive Functioning
ADHD and executive functioning challenges can affect focus, organization, time management, task initiation, and follow-through. This can lead to frustration, overwhelm, and difficulty managing school, home, or daily responsibilities. We support adolescents in building structure, increasing consistency, and developing more effective day-to-day strategies.
Stress, Avoidance & Daily Functioning
Stress and overwhelm can make it harder for adolescents to attend school, stay engaged, complete tasks, or maintain daily routines. Over time, avoidance can become a pattern that feels difficult to shift. We support adolescents in gradually rebuilding structure, increasing participation, and developing more consistent day-to-day functioning.
Self-Harm & Suicidality
When distress becomes overwhelming, adolescents may experience suicidal thoughts or urges to self-harm. These experiences are often connected to intense emotions, emotional pain, or feeling unsure how to cope in the moment. We support teens in building safety, stabilization, and practical skills for getting through distress more effectively.
Trauma & PTSD
Adolescents may carry the impact of past experiences in how they respond emotionally and behaviourally, including increased anxiety, reactivity, withdrawal, or difficulty feeling safe. These experiences can affect relationships, school, and daily functioning. We provide paced, trauma-informed support that helps adolescents and families build safety, understanding, and more manageable ways of moving forward.
Disordered Eating
Concerns around eating and body image in adolescence can show up as restriction, bingeing, anxiety around food, or feeling preoccupied with appearance. These patterns are often connected to emotions, stress, self-esteem, and identity. We support adolescents in making sense of these experiences, building healthier coping strategies, and developing a more compassionate relationship with food, their body, and themselves.
Insomnia
Sleep difficulties and insomnia in adolescence can affect mood, concentration, school functioning, relationships, and daily routines. We support teens to understand patterns that interfere with sleep and help them establish healthier and more consistent habits.
Parent–Teen Conflict & Communication
Ongoing conflict and communication breakdown can create strain within the family, especially when patterns become repetitive and difficult to shift. We support parents and adolescents in improving communication, reducing conflict, and rebuilding connection over time.
Family Therapy
Families can become strained during periods of conflict, stress, or change. We support parents and adolescents in improving communication, increasing understanding, and building more consistent, effective ways of relating to one another.
Parent Support
Supporting a child through emotional or behavioural concerns can feel overwhelming, especially when parents feel unsure how to respond, set limits, or stay consistent. We support parents in building practical strategies, improving communication, and creating more stable patterns at home.
OUR APPROACH TO TREATMENT
We take a collaborative, family-informed approach to supporting youth.
Treatment focuses on building practical skills, improving communication, and supporting emotion regulation at home and in daily life.
Care is tailored to each young person’s needs while involving caregivers in a way that supports progress and respects privacy.
Individual Therapy
Work one-on-one with an experienced clinician who balances structure and support, with caregiver involvement when appropriate. For younger children, therapy may incorporate play-based approaches.
Family Therapy
We support families in improving communication, strengthening relationships, and building more effective patterns for navigating conflict, stress, and change together.
